The GarageDogs was formed by three brothers, Billy, Paul and Matt Hough, in their parent's garage in Alabama in 1995. The brothers brought their mutual love of the Velvet Underground, New York Dolls, Stooges and Johnny Cash, to their wildly popular live shows in Boston and New York in the late 1990's, and later to Los Angeles in the early 2000's. The trio, with original bass player, Devin McGuire,, released four albums, an EP, and a live collection, before taking a break from recording in 2005, after their critically acclaimed 'Withdrawl,' with a cover by Raymond Pettibon.
After a break, oldest brother, Billy Hough, formed the wildly popular alt-cabaret act, Scream Along with Billy, with his partner, Susan Goldberg. In this new iteration, he and his brothers released two albums, including 2013's 'Venice' with Gordon Gano of the Violent Femmes.
The brothers were ready to do another GarageDog album after the band returned to Boston, and their father passed. Entering the studio after 15 years, all three brothers had a cache of new tunes. Having dabbled in many genres over the years, the band decided to make an eclectic record, featuring punk, country, folk, metal and rock. The new album, 'Beyond Good and Evil,' boasts a cheeky cover by Jack Pierson, and a sprawling set of killer songs.
The band released three singles in the lead up to the album's release: "American Dream," "Television," and "Space." The album will be available on October 5, 2021 from GarageDog Records.
